WEST CALAVERAS HISTORY HONORS JUDITH MARVIN WITH PIONEER AWARD

BURSON, CA – January 18, 2016 -The Society for the Preservation of West Calaveras History has presented Judith Marvin with its 2016 Richard Taylor Pioneer Award. Honoring individuals who have contributed to the preservation of local history, this year’s award applauded Marvin for “her generous sharing of knowledge and her constant support of furthering the promotion of the history of West Calaveras.” Marvin is the co-author of several books, including Arcadia Publishing’s “Northern Calaveras County,” which includes West Calaveras. Formerly director of the Calaveras County Museum and Archives, Marvin since 1983 has been a partner in Mokelumne Hill-based Foothill Resources, Ltd., serving as historian for a wide range of cultural resource projects, including for the National Park Service and California’s Department of Transportation and Department of Parks and Recreation. The previous Pioneer Award honorees have beenTom Duke,Mervyn Kirk, David Earl Evans Jr., and Shannon Van Zant.
