The Angels Camp Museum lecture series will present a two-part lecture on the American Civil War as part of the 150th anniversary of this tragic conflict. The first part of the lecture will focus on the role and participation of Calaveras County residents in this war called “Calaveras Heroes of the Civil War” by local historian Sal Manna. The second half of the program will feature Angels Camp Museum Director Craig Hadley in a program entitled “History according to Hollywood: The Civil War” in which he will discuss Hollywood’s influence on our perception of history and how what fiction they make up for films is never as compelling as to what really happened.
The lecture will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in their lower meeting hall. Refreshments will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m. The program should conclude by 8:00 p.m. or soon after. Parking will be available at both the church parking lot and the upper museum parking lot.
